Dr. Mark Szostczuk
Education:
I was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY and completed my undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Albany majoring in Human Biology knowing only two things: 1) that I wanted to learn more about what made the human body tick, and 2) that I wanted to help people.
I didn’t know much about chiropractic before this point in my life, but the more I looked into it, the more it spoke to my head and resonated in my heart. Something felt right about it and intrigued me to keep digging. So I did, and the more I dug up about chiropractic, the more it was what I wanted to do; as it fulfilled both of my career requirements (working with the human body and helping people). But, the best way to sum it up is that, it called me.
I graduated from New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) in Seneca Falls, NY on March 27, 2000, and on that day received the official go ahead to begin my lifelong mission to help people, to enhance their lives, and to re-connect them with their innate ability to heal.
After graduation I accepted a position in Elko, Nevada where I continued my education under the supervision of Dr. Deed Harrison, a world renown researcher in the field of spinal biomechanics and a pioneer in the field of spinal rehabilitation. It was here where I refined my skills in leadership, adjusting techniques, and patient communication. But, most importantly, here is where I joined fewer than 200 other doctors throughout the country and received CBP (Chiropractic Bio-Physics) certification. CBP‘s corrective traction rehab protocol is designed to change the shape of the ligaments holding the spine in place and to help the adjustments hold longer. This allows the opening of the communication channels of the nervous system for longer intervals and ultimately allows the body to begin healing the stress affected areas. I am most proud of my CBP training because it is what I do differently than most chiropractors, and it has shaped my philosophy to defy most people’s expectations about chiropractic. You DO NOT have to be a chiropractic patient for life – just to feel well. You CAN heal. (The lifers make chiropractic part of their preventative health care and wellness lifestyle.) So think of our office as the doorway of HOPE.
Annually, I participate in 24-50 hours of continuing education. The workshops and seminars that I most typically enjoy attending focus on wellness, up-to-date rehab protocols, nutrition and auto injuries/truama.
